10 states so far have enacted deepfake-related laws
Georgia, Hawaii, Texas, and Virginia have laws that criminalize deepfake porn. California and Illinois have given victims the right to sue those who create images using their likenesses.
No AI Fraud Act
On the federal level, Congress is proposing to pass the No Artificial Intelligence Fake Replicas and Unauthorized Duplications (No AI Fraud) Act, which makes it illegal to make a "digital depiction" or "digital voice replica" of any person, living or dead, without permission.
EU AI Act
The European Union takes a risk-based approach to analyzing AI use, labeling the severity of each application on a scale of low to unacceptable risk.
Low risk/General Purpose AI (GPAI)
Has the capability to serve a variety of purposes regardless of how the model is integrated into other systems.
High risk
AI that improves previously completed human activity (Resume screenings) or profiles individuals (work performance, economic status, behavior, etc)
Unacceptable risk
Social scoring systems, manipulative AI, biometric categorization systems

Providers must provide technical documentation, instructions for use, and comply with copyright, and publish training data summary.
