What more can the state do?
We argue that the state should take on a regulatory role in assessing the unique ways in which deepfakes can pose risks to various groups.

Specifically, there should be a greater system of communication that allows information about deepfakes to be more transparent.
Rise of anti-deepfake technology
Loti, a startup that identifies unauthorized content and takes such content down, serves as an indicator of the increased attention towards regulating deepfake and Artificial Intelligence.

As attention towards AI increases, so do technologies used to combat malignant actions.
Platforms such as Loti are beginning to develop that use technology to identify and remove any unauthorized deepfake content.

Specifically, Loti utilizes an interface called Watchtower that identifies and removes unapproved content and issues takedown requests.

01
Transparency
There needs to be more transparency about what content is artificially generated and not. While it is important for users to exercise freedom when creating deepfake content, it is equally important that the private rights of internet consumers are protected.
02
Provide State Power to Place Restrictions
Another strategy that can be implemented is to allow the state to exercise control over who can access this technology; however, it is also important to consider the pros and cons of granting the state so much power.
03
Increase AI /Deepfake Identification Technology
A third strategy to implement could be to increase technology that can combat the downsides of deepfakes and AI generated content. It would be difficult to remove all of the content altogether; therefore, in response to the growing prevalence and concerns surrounding this technology there should be counter-technology that effectively identifies deepfake data.
